We've had lots of big little adventures around here lately.
The end of 2016 was a whirlwind to say the least! We had been rapidly growing out of our NYC apartment, and knew we needed to find something soon. Thus, the madness of NYC apartment searching began - this time, sans broker. After prayers, a leap of faith and some strong drinks - we signed a lease on a 2 bedroom apartment two streets over... and we could not be happier! I'll have to share another apartment tour soon, as those have been so fun to have in our memory logs over the years.
We feel like, although busy and filled with constant sickness, 2016 rounded out nicely with quality time with friends and family near and far (including a trip back to Texas). That's what the end of year is for anyways, right?!
As I've said several times, watching a human being grow is the most incredible and crazy thing I've ever experienced. Elle continues to sprout into such an adorable little girl (and remains quite vocal and independent:). Generally, our daily week routine goes something like this at her current stage.
5:45-6:00AM | "Whaaaaaa! Mamamamama!" 6:00 - 6:15AM | Snuggles & milk with Ma-ma and Da-da in bed. 6:15 - 7:45AM | Elle helps me unload the dishwasher and make eggs for breakfast while Richard walks Pickle and Sundae, Breakfast and the Today Show, Get dressed and play (chase the dogs, play with Madeline and Babydoll) | 8:00AM Drop-off at Drool Skool and off to work! | 5 - 6PM Walk dogs, pick-up Elle, make dinner | 6 - 8PM Eat dinner, bath (some nights), watch "mo-mo" on Sesame Street / sing songs / build blocks / chase dogs, get ready for "night nights" and read a book, Da-da sings Elle to sleep | 8 - 10PM Clean-up the apartment after hurricane Elle, watch a TV Show / do some work / read.... go to sleep!
Some weeks work travel, sickness, or crazy work schedules make that routine quite humorous! We are also trying our best to get back into the routine of Community Group at our church, and are on a documentary kick for our Thursday date nights. Exercise routines are on the horizon, I just know it!
Since it's winter in the city, we have to think about our plans a bit more to ensure we don't get cabin fever! We try to do dinner at friend's apartments and invite them to ours, Elle rides her tricycle to our corner bagel and coffee shop on Saturday mornings, on sunshine days we try to pop up to our rooftop for fresh air and we attend church and kid's ministry on Sundays. We are also still part of a 6-week babysitting rotation to ensure we have a night out on the town, which is wonderful!
That's pretty much life as we know it right now! Calm and routine some days, exhausting and wild other days. All days I want to remember!
