Our little Ellie Belly is getting so chunky!
Pediatrician update: The week of Christmas, Elle received her first round of shots. One oral, which she threw up and had to receive another dose after an outfit change. The other three in her thighs. Richard held her tight (and looked away from fear of fainting), while I stood back and cried. Elle was not a fan. She did a pout, quivered her lip and then screamed for almost 5 minutes. It was so sad, BUT she was then cleared for subway travel. Our little city baby!
Elle's first subway ride on Christmas Eve, headed to church in Union Square.
Beyond Thankful: My mom stayed with us, in our tiny NYC apartment :), for a full month! She arrived 2 1/2 weeks after E's arrival and it was perfect timing as we were adjusting to Richard going back to work. She cooked, cleaned, changed diapers, sang and rocked Elle, played with Pickle and Sundae, grocery shopped, babysat, kept me company and so much more. But most importantly, she got to bond with her first granddaughter while helping to take care of me while I recovered. I cried after she left! :) So very thankful for the help and sweet memories! Elle loves her grandma!
More Snuggles: Shortly following Christmas, Richard's Mom (Mimi) arrived to meet her fourth grandchild! The best thing she brought was new born photos of Richard, who looks JUST LIKE her daddy! We were so happy Anne was able to bond with Elle, and to see life with baby in our little Upper East Side neighborhood. We are so grateful for her time in NYC.
Baby Richard: Baby Elle looks so much like Richard when he was a baby!
Other memories this month:
Elle hit the 10 pound mark, started sleeping for 6-7 hours through the night, smiling, continued her coo-ing and making new noises, more alert and awake during the day, has started to become calmer during bath time, is now wearing her 0 - 3 month clothes (when we brought her home, newborn clothes were too big!), and she loved to look at lights and our faces. Sundae is still very interested in Elle and has calmed down enough to actually sit next to us on the couch while we hold her, Pickle is pretty chill about the whole baby thing.
She does this strange spitting thing when she is frustrated and she gets SO happy when she is on her changing pad about to get a new diaper. It's so cute! :) And sometimes she just wants to smile in the middle of a feeding, which is cute. She has also been hitting her toys on the bar over her bouncer. And has not been a fan of tummy time.
Elle also threw a curve ball at us before we left for a NYE party and cried uncontrollably for a very long time. While it sounds so routine, it was very scary not knowing what was wrong with your baby! She made us three hours (fashionably late) to the party. :)
Praises: Healthy, happy baby! Date nights thanks to our mothers. SLEEP!
